If I'm not mistaken, it was quite common in the early 20th century to send photos taken at a professional photographer's studio as postcards.
If this is the case here, the woman on the right must be Amélie, who corresponded with my grandfather at length after the war. The other woman must be her older sister Renée, who is mentioned in other letters from time to time.

An interesting detail is the way she writes the date: month, day, year. While this way is common in certain English speaking countries (looking at you United States), it's not common at all in France. Or was it back then? I need to look closer at the other cards.
