Art Setouchi 2026

If you visited Kagawa Prefecture or the Setouchi Islands between 2011 and 2018 outside of the Setouchi Triennale, you might recall that much of the permanent or long-term indoor art was accessible to the public on weekends.

Sadly, this ended in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. The decision was made partly to prevent too many people from visiting the islands during these trying times and partly because Koebi-tai, the group of volunteers who manage Art Setouchi's day-to-day operations, especially the maintenance of the artworks, had to cease operations (though not completely) as there simply weren't enough people to staff all the art sites.

Well, this is about to change. A few days ago, it was announced that, starting in 2026, Art Setouchi (i.e., the art exhibits and events outside of the art festival) will resume!
