Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough

Depeche Mode has been around for more than 40 years. Despite some "dry spells" from time to time, they have remained musically relevant throughout this period. Their first album was released in 1981, and their most recent one, one of their best in my opinion, was released in 2023.

Like most bands that have survived that long artistically, Depeche Mode has evolved over time, changing their style, maturing, and experimenting. The music they play today is quite different from their debut. Today, I want to show you their beginnings with "Just Can't Get Enough!"

It's their third single and their first big success. It's definitely synth-pop, but it also hints at the electronic and new wave sound that would become their signature throughout the '80s, before they started experimenting with different genres and sounds in the late '80s, especially in the '90s and beyond.

After listening to the song, you won't be surprised that, in the beginning, they were considered a "teen pop band," and not many people took them seriously. That changed a few years later, but that story is for another day.

For now, let's enjoy "Just Can't Get Enough!" and smile at how young they look in the video. They were between 19 and 21 years old at the time.
