Cherry Blossoms (2026 edition)

Cherry Blossoms (2026 edition)

One might argue that this post is off-topic, but I respectfully disagree.

  1. This takes place in Japan.
  2. Although the definition of art has been and will continue to be the subject of lengthy discussions, one could argue that nature is art. After all, this idea behind the Teshima Art Museum and the architecture of the Benesse House Museum.
  3. Those pictures were taken on Shikoku. While it's not a tiny island, it's still an island.
  4. I don't know anyone with a heart who doesn't like pictures of cherry blossoms.

So, for those four reasons, I'm sure you won't mind if I share some of my favorite pictures from this year, will you?

This is probably my favorite cherry tree on campus.

And soon, it was already all over...

But not completely, some trees are still resisting:

See you next year, cherry blossoms...

On a side note that you may find of interest, I created a Japan Art Islands feed on Surf.Social :

Japan Art Islands by David B. :SetouchiExplorer: on Surf
Surf - Posts and more about the islands hosting the Setouchi Triennale in Japan.

What is Surf Social, you may be asking? It's an amazing web tool created by the people at Flipboard with which you can do many amazing things, including create and follow feeds about whatever you want. You can mostly use Surf Social with the Fediverse or Bluesky, but if you're not on either of these (you should join!), you still can use this feed with an RSS reader. I hope you have an RSS reader, right? Right?

That's all for today.

As always if you liked what you saw, please share it with your friends, family or vague acquaintances. And sign up to the newsletter if you haven't done so already.

Thanks for reading.

Best,

David
