Björk - Human Behaviour
Björk is from Iceland, and she is probably the most famous Icelander in the world today. She first became famous in the 1980s with her band the Sugarcubes when she was in her early 20s. After the band broke up, she launched a solo career in 1993, becoming world-famous and one of the most important singers of the past 30 years.
Her style is hard to define because it's unique and eclectic, incorporating dance, electronic, jazz, pop, trip hop, and avant-garde music. Although she's not as prominent as she used to be, she's still active today, and she's one of the most respected and influential artists alive.
The following song, "Human Behaviour," is the song that introduced me to her, as well as many others, as it was her first solo hit and the song that propelled her to the forefront of the global music scene. Note that the video was directed by Michel Gondry, one of the most creative contemporary filmmakers.
