April 7, 2007, in Paris
Recently, while looking for old pictures, I found some. Not the ones I was looking for, but some others. Well, I also found the ones I was looking for, but those aren't the ones I want to talk about today.
As I was saying, I found a bunch of pictures I took before moving to Japan. A lot of them are from my time in Paris. I thought it would be nice to share some of them here and give them a second life.
I'll start with these two. They're from a brief period when I tried doing street photography, taking pictures of random people on the street. I stopped because... I don't know. Consent issues, mostly. I don't like it when random people take pictures of me on the street, so why would I think it's okay for me to do it?
But I guess some of the pictures are okay to show in public, especially almost 20 years after the facts. Including these two (the one above and the one below).
What do you think?
I really like these pictures, especially the one above. They were taken in April 2007 on the Parvis Notre-Dame, right next to the Rue de la Cité. Of course, I don't know anything about this kid. Is he a tourist? I have no idea, but I suspect so. His clothes are a bit too colorful for a Parisian. Maybe he was taking a break while his family visited Notre Dame. Maybe.

Something funny happened when I saw these two pictures again after many years. While watching the first season of The White Lotus, an amazing show you should watch if you haven’t already, the character Quinn reminded of someone, but I couldn’t figure out who. Well, I thunk it was this kid—or rather, the story I imagined for this kid tagging along his family visiting Paris was quite similar to Quinn's story in The White Lotus.
I played around with the pictures a bit (I did something similar years ago, but I can’t find it anymore, so I redid it):

I guess that's all for now.
I'll probably post more of old pictures when the time comes.
Stay tuned, and if you haven't done so yet, why don't you subscribe to the blog and its newsletters?
