A House of Dynamite (2025)

What it is about: an ICBM of unknown origin is about to hit the United States. The film follows different members of the military and the government as they deal with the situation and prepare for impact.

Spoiler-free review: An interesting film showing a mostly realistic approach of what would happen more or less in real time in such a situation. As the events – shown from different perspectives – unfold, tension increases accordingly.

I like the format and the approach. Some scenes are repeated but shown from the perspective of different characters as most of them are not in the same locations and are communicating by telephone or video. I also like the realistic tone and depiction of the events. The actors are all excellent.

I don’t like the lack of resolution. It doesn’t really come as a surprise, it goes with the approach, but while not a surprise it remains a bit frustrating.
